Keynote: Churlsun Han, MD
Assistant Professor
Lead Director, Internal Medicine Clerkship
Originally from New York, Dr. Han has been with the Department of Medicine since 2007, working extensively in medical education, focusing on pre-clinical education. He has taken on several roles in medical education, especially with course administration. His clinical practice focuses on outpatient primary care.
Janilla Lee, PhD
Executive Director of Asian Center of SEMI/UMich Asian American Health
Dr. Janilla Lee is currently a research scientist at the Program for Multi-Cultural Health, University of Michigan Health System focusing on Asian Americans’ health. She is also the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director at the Asian Center – Southeast Michigan. She came to academia after retiring as Engineering and Program Manager from Ford Motor Co. She has been very actively serving the Asian American communities and the community at large for over 25 years. She served in the following organizations:

Erin Khang
Michigan Medicine Social Work Manager and Director of SW Education
Erin Khang received her MSSA social work degree from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. She is currently the Director of the Michigan Medicine Social Work Education program and a social work manager for multiple clinical areas including Transplant, Dialysis, and Adult Specialty clinics. In addition, Erin is the chair of the Social Work Department Diversity Committee, University of Michigan Interprofessional Leadership Fellow, and University of Michigan School of Social Work adjunct faculty member. Erin seeks out any opportunity to add a SW voice to DEI, electronic medical record, interprofessional, and teaching/research spaces.
Amy Kim, MA LPC
Personal Counselor
Amy immigrated from South Korea to the United States when she was in high school. During the difficult time of adjusting to a new culture and language, she developed empathy for people going through grief, disappointments, anguish, pain, and frustrations. She has provided counseling sessions to children, teens, and adults for more than 20 years in the US, South Korea, China, and the Philippines. She believes in treating all individuals with respect, genuineness, empathetic understanding, and sincerity.
Ron Jacob, MD
Regional Director, East, Regional Engagement and Enrollment (RE2), Initiative Consultant, Asian & Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group
Ron Jacob, M.D. is a current Regional Director for Be the Match and has been involved with Be the Match for 3 years now. He also serves as an Initiative Consultant for the Asian & Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group.
